Functional cookies make sure that our website works well. Through the analytical/ tracking cookies we get an insight into how our site is used. We use this information to improve our website. Analysis/ tracking cookies have a minimal effect on your privacy. Through using social media/ embedded cookies, it is possible to access the content of our site via other websites. Third parties can use cookies to establish a visitor’s profile, as YouTube does via embedded videos, for example. We don’t like this, but unfortunately we don’t have any influence over what these third parties do with their cookies.

Legislation on the use of cookies

On 5th June, 2012 the Dutch Cookie Law was introduced. This law determines that websites have to make their policy about the use of cookies very clear to their visitors. On 4th February, 2015 a change in this law was finalised, determining that cookies that have no or restricted effect on privacy fall outside this Cookie Law. For privacy sensitive cookies, the law states that users still have to grant their permission before a website can use cookies. Here you can read about what cookies are and what purpose they serve. We also inform you about the way our site uses cookies and we explain how you can turn them off, if you so wish.

Cookies on this site

Cookies are small pieces of information, that your computer saves when you visit a website and that can be used to remember your personal preferences, for example. We actually plant some cookies (first party cookies), but others are planted by third parties that appear on our site, such as social media sites and video clips, etc. (third party cookies).

Three types of cookies are used on this site

  1. Cookies that are strictly necessary. These are cookies that are needed so that the ExpressionEngine site will work properly. Without these functional cookies, this site wouldn’t work as well as it should. Under the Cookie Law, we do not need to ask for our users’ permission to use these types of cookie.
  2. Analysis/ tracking cookies. This site uses Google Analytics, which uses these analytical cookie so that we can track where our visitors come from, which steering system they use, how many people read certain articles, etc. This information is very important to us; based on this data we can optimise our site and make it even more user-friendly. The data we collect is never used for any other purposes and is never disclosed to third parties. Cookies contain no personal information; therefore Matchis cannot use cookies to identify you. At all times we strictly abide by the Personal Data Authority guidelines.
  3. Social media/ embedded content cookies. Social media buttons and embedded content from social media sites, such as YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and other such platforms often contain cookies. We do not know what these platforms do with these cookies. We have no insight into this data and unfortunately we have no influence over how they plant these cookies, thus we are unable to stop them. In accordance with the Cookie Law, we do need your permission to allow these buttons and embedded content (including the cookies) to be planted.

Turning off Cookies

If you do not want any cookies to be planted, you can turn them off in your browser. To do this you should refer to the help function and/or the settings in your browser: Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. Please note: If you turn off the cookies in your browser, you won’t be able to use all of the functions of this website.

Changes in privacy and cookies policy

It could well be that we change or extend our privacy and cookie policy in the near future. We therefore advise you to regularly check this page to see if there are any changes. Should there be any major changes, we will make sure that these changes are very clearly communicated.

Would you like to read more about the Dutch Cookie Law? You can read the Cookie Law Guidelines, which have been put together by the DDMA (the trade association for dialogue marketing).

Self-sharing of information

You can choose to share information via social media networks such as Facebook or Twitter (e.g. via buttons on Matchis website(s). For this functionality, data is provided to the social media platform in question and cookies can be placed by the social media platform. For this purpose the social media platforms in question are responsible themselves and their privacy statements apply.
