Quality assurance

In order to guarantee the safety and quality of our activities, we closely follow the legislation and guidelines of a number of important (inter)national guidelines and authorities.

Stichting Matchis is recognized as a tissue institution within the framework of the Body Material Safety and Quality Act (WVKL) and complies with the European guidelines for tissues and cells. Matchis also complies with the international guidelines of the WMDA (World Marrow Donor Association) and is accredited for this.

The Human Tissue Act - Safety and Quality

Within the framework of the Dutch Human Tissue Act, known as the Wet Veiligheid en Kwaliteit Lichaamsmateriaal (WVKL), the Dutch Government has recognised Matchis as a Tissue Establishment.  This means that Matchis has permission to import blood stem cell products into the Netherlands for transplant purposes.

European guidelines for tissues and cells

Matchis guarantees the safety and quality of the cells it distributes on the basis of the European guidelines drawn up for the donation, procurement, testing, processing, storage and distribution of human cells.

World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA)

In January 2008 Matchis was certified by the WMDA, proving that we work in accordance with the WMDA guidelines (www.wmda.info).

Netcord Fact

Netcord Fact is an international organisation that sets the guidelines for umbilical cord blood banks. These guidelines cover the taking, processing, storing, selecting and procuring of umbilical cord blood units for patients. Matchis facilitates the selection and the issuance of these umbilical cord blood units and maintains contact with the transplant centres. In 2009, Matchis, together with the umbilical cord blood bank in Leiden, received Nedcord Fact’s certificate of approval.
